Photo-Rejuvenation/Intense Pulse Light (IPL)
If you are struggling with rosacea, sun spots, broken capillaries or other forms of skin discoloration, Intense Pulse Light (IPL) may be your best form of treatment. IPL is the process of using light over a broad spectrum that can target darker areas of the skin. The light penetrates the skin and is absorbed by abnormally dilated vessels or hyper-pigmentation. The absorption creates heat which impairs the vessel or lesion, and the targeted cells are disposed of by the body through the natural healing process.
Additional benefits you can expect are easing of fine lines as well as reducing the appearance of scars and pore size. Treatments typically take 30-60 minutes and any redness experienced can easily be covered by our Jane Iredale® mineral cosmetics.
FAQ
How many treatments are required?
s depends on the size, location, depth, and color of your skin lesion. Spider veins on the face and sun spots generally do well with 1-3 treatments, while darker or deeper areas may require additional treatments. Treatments should be placed 4-8 weeks apart to allow your body maximum time to remove pigmented cells. You will continue to see a lightening after each treatment as your body disposes of the pigmented cells.
Does an IPL treatment hurt?
Not really, however, the treatment sensation will vary from client to client. Most of our clients say it feels like a hot pin prick or the flicking of an elastic band on their skin. Any discomfort is momentary and there is no lasting sensation.
Are there any side effects to IPL treatments?
Immediately after your treatment you may notice a slight reddening of the skin or slight local swelling which may last a few hours (or in extreme cases, a few days). These are positive indications that the IPL was effective and are no cause for concern.
