Laser Hair Reduction

Unwanted body hair can be embarrassing and frustrating to remove. There are no other hair reduction techniques as fast and effective as laser hair reduction. This treatment is a non-invasive and safe procedure approved by the FDA.

The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle, generating energy in the form of heat that destroys the follicle without damaging the skin. Your skin is cooled to increase your comfort level during the procedure as our utmost concern next to the reduction of your hair is your comfort level. The laser treatment can be performed anywhere there is unsightly dark hair with the exception of shaping the eyebrows. While results vary, you can typically expect to achieve a permanent hair loss of up to 85-90 percent. The remaining hair will grow back lighter and much less noticeable. Laser hair reduction can affect the hair that is currently present but cannot prevent new hair from developing.

FAQ

How do I know if laser hair reduction is right for me?

Both men and women seek laser hair reduction services to have unwanted hair removed. Hair reduction is commonly done on the upper lip, chin, back, buttocks, bikini area, legs, breasts, and toes. This treatment works best on pale skin with coarse dark hair. The closer you are to this combination the better results you will see.

How many treatments will I need and how far apart should my treatments be scheduled?

In general most people need 6-8 initial treatments to reach their desired results which should be spaced 4-10 weeks apart. This is because hair grows in 3 phases. Several treatments are needed to target all hair in the active growth phase. After 6-8 treatments you should experience a considerable amount of hair reduction. Depending on hair type and genetic factors, some clients may require additional treatments. If after the initial treatments you still have not experienced a reduction, underlying issues such as a hormone imbalance may be present.

What should I expect before and after my laser hair reduction appointment?

You should shave the area to be treated the day before your treatment. No waxing or removing the hair with the root of any other kind should be done 4-6 weeks before and throughout your treatment as hair needs to be in place to be targeted by the laser. You should also not bleach your hair, because the laser is attracted to the pigment within the hair follicle. After the treatment is completed you aesthetician will apply a soothing cream to reduce any irritation. Within 2-4 weeks you will experience “shedding” of the treated hair. Treatments should continue until the desired reduction is achieved.
